Web and Mini Comix Thing 2010

I won't be able to make it this year, but do look out for the below. Video Nasties will be sharing some table space at flatmate and fellow cartoonist Adam Cadwell's table, alongside his Everydays and postcard books and postcards. Do buy some if you're passing by.

Buy VN!

I've finally stopped sitting on my hands and now each issue of Video Nasties is available to order online! No more waiting to buy a copy off me personally at a con!

Video Nasties

VN#5 will be making it's debut on the MCC Table at BICS next month. I'm going to figure out a way of making the minicomic brown paper covers stand out from the rest of the amazing stuff on the table, so if you're there hopefully your eyes won't just gloss over them.

VN Favouritism

He's already had a quick mention in issue two and a blink and you'll miss him appearance in issue three, but Tom Hess figures more prominently in issue five and has quickly became my personal favourite character. I was a bit scared writing him, as he's the first proper 'adult' type in the story, an astute businessman, but he really came to life for me while drawing him. So much so I was a little saddened when I went back to drawing Evan.

Anyway, this is a panel from page 29. Only a few more and VN#5'll be ready for Birmingham in October!

Old Ma Leibovitch

Sat through both series of Extras yesterday while I was drawing. There're only a smattering of laughs when Stephen Merchant isn't onscreen, but the cemetary scene in the above is the standout of the entire series for me.

".. But Old Ma Leibovitch didn't listen.."

Big VN news

I've told quite a few people already, but just to make a brief official announcement - Video Nasties is going to be released mid next year as a complete graphic novel from the excellent Blank Slate. I'm not particularly patriotic, but it's really cheered me up that it's going to be released by a UK publisher - especially when the list of other creators with books due out is so impressive and diverse. Given me a bit more hope that there's a market for indie comics in the UK.

So yeah, proper publisher and everything - woo!

"Massacre at Kegger Creek 2" Jana W Promo
Still working on Video Nasties #5. 22 pages in and still have around 10 more to do, so it's going to be a bumper issue. This here's a prop from the issue I wanted to draw full scale and then shrink down for it's appearance in the comic. It's going to be a signed photo of Jana Wyngarde, Victor's favourite scream queen, in her appearance as cheerleader Carrie Mathieson in "Massacre at Kegger Creek 2".

It is a bit more cheesecakey and booby than I usually go, but it's still pretty tame. Click on the image for a larger version on my Flickr.

VN #5 on Mute

VN's getting closer to it's conclusion now (currently up to five of seven), so I'm really going to have to cut back on posting any of it for fear of ruining the story. With that in mind, here's a panel from issue five with the dialogue cut.
